For Katherine & Kevin’s NYC engagement session we opted to have little agenda, other than simply walking around their neighborhood and finding some favorite places to capture them… As we were walking around, Kevin saw the the sign for Minetta Tavern and suggested we try to get a drink at the bar & get some photos. We knew it was long shot, as Minetta can be hard to get into…but luck was on our side. The end of the bar was open & the two had quick glasses of champagne…I think we were inside for seven minutes tops – and everyone was so accomodating and just HAPPY to celebrate.
I’m struggling with words to describe the notion that e.e. cummings & Hemingway would have sat at this very bar & ordered drinks from this very cabinet….as I was clicking the shutter I could feel the history of this place deep in my bones. ….
