Dear Readers,
Not quite sure how it’s already the middle of January & we are well into 2024. I missed sending out the December newsletter- because just days after sending out the inaugural newsletter – I managed to take a hard fall in the barn & broke my arm & nose. {Fun fact: in my high school yearbook I was named Most Creative & Most Accident Prone….these still hold true}.
Thankfully it was my left arm & I didn’t get a concussion – it definitely could have been worse….but it quite literally & figuratively took the wind out of my sails. I did sport first a hot pink & then a seasonal red cast for December & now have a full appreciation of how much having a limb in a cast truly is pretty terrible- but also a reminder that it’s all temporary.
And just when we all thought Covid was so a thing of the past- our entire house was taken down one by one – so our family holiday was locked in…Incredibly thankful that all that crumminess is now behind us & we can all focus on a fresh new start for 2024 & all the amazing things that it will bring. What are you most looking forward to in 2024?
xoxo,
Meg

I always end up discovering something that lights a spark when others share I’ll do the same.
Current Crushes & Obsessions:
Unexpected: Last weekend in NYC I popped into Jones Road Beauty with my friend Kim after K&K’s engagement session in Greenwich {see the above photo of those two cuties coming out of the iconic Minetta Tavern}….Anywho, a legit 3 minute makeover and I feel like a completely newer & better version of myself. The foundation & miracle balm in flushed are my new actual go-to…finally a routine that I can & will do.
Podcast: Mel Robbins {always a favorite, and especially in January & needing an extra spark}
Business Book: To be honest, I’m not reading a business book this month; just giving my brain a rest….but also have been working with Courtney Wolf in a mini-voxer group- so counting that instead!
Fiction: Horse by Geraldine Brooks. Even if you aren’t a horse-girl, this book was SOOO good. Weaving fact & fiction: art, the greatest American Racehorse of all time – Lexington, racial injustice, slavery, modern science all into one AMAZING story.
Non-Fiction: The Perfect Horse, Elizabeth Letts. My husband and boys are deeply interested in WWII – this book is heavy & historic and truly fascinating. Hitler had stockpiled the best purebreds for his military – but so many hero’s went above and beyond to ensure that he did not succeed.
Cookbook: Salad Freak. Because it’s January, duh.
Healthy Dinner in a Crunch: Okonomiyaki : Japanese cabbage pancake with spicy mayo…and I usually pan fry some chicken or minute steak to go alongside it… weirdly, everyone under this roof really enjoys it {and they probably have no idea how much cabbage they are eating!}
Current Treadmill Binge: American Nightmare on Netflix…Only watching it while on the treadmill & it’s keeping me showing up.
Current Evening Binge with Nate: Season 5 of Fargo – with Jon Hamm & Juno Temple…it’s so twisted we can’t look away {or sleep well after, either}. Side note, the 1996 Fargo movie is still hands down my 2nd favorite movie, after National Velvet with Elizabeth Taylor in 1944.
On the Horizon:
Enjoying the rest of winter – especially now that we have several inches of snow…and also digging into album designs & will have more to report on all-things-wedding-albums next month. {photo of me by Hank…and also, how perfect my sister’s fabric design for the cottage with Spoonflower – I ended up making more curtains that I planned, and am so happy with the extra cozy affect….and making all the curtains has me re-inspired to finish up some quilts that I started & haven’t finished…}
Upcoming Travel:
February – New England Event Pros {NEEP} – Amour Affair event – I’ll be photographing and mingling and soaking up the words of wisdom by David Beahm. It’s going to be the most colorful and inspiring networking event- and I can’t wait to connect with industry friends and document the magic too. Grab tickets HERE.
{And hopefully a family & friends trip to Montreal – we are hoping to try curling!}
March – Boston & Camden, Maine
April – Nashville & Washington D.C.
May- California
Recent Press:
Linnea & Asa’s botanical themed wedding on the front page of Style Me Pretty – so many vendors involved – but Events by Sorrell & Emily of E.H. Floral were the queens in bringing it all together. {Also – Linnea made me that gorgeous lichen art installationhanging up by the beam in my cottage – it reminds me of the rolling hills of Ireland.}
We also have a gorgeous 12 page spread in the newest issue of New Hampshire Magazine’s BRIDE- with Kate Dawson Events, Birds of a Flower and Emily Rose Ink at The Greenery at McKenzies Farm.
