engagement sessions: an investment for your wedding day portraits

-5

I love shooting engagement sessions for a lot of different reasons. {and I don’t want this to come across as a pushy sales-pitch!}

The single most important reason to invest in an engagement session: the bride and groom become  comfortable in front of the camera. Seriously, when was the last time you had a gazillion photos taken of you? The last time I had my picture taken prior to getting engaged was for my High School senior portraits.  This pays off on the wedding day, when time is always crunched. When the couple is already comfortable in front of the camera & knows what to expect from me…we waste a lot less time and take more photos!

It can be a fun experience & you can really let your personalities shine.  Did you meet at Dartmouth? Do the e-shoot there? Love ice cream?  We can go to the local ice cream parlor….

We can collaborate and brainstorm on incorporating props that mean something to the couple….like old an old vintage truck that belongs to your Grandpa!

Planning your wedding is stressful- it’s nice to reconnect, relax,  and have fun with your better half and remember why you two are getting married! :0)

Some couples may decide against having an engagment session simply because they do not know they will do them.  Images can be perfect for save-the-date cards, on your wedding website, can be made into an awesome guest book & more. Personally, I like to look back at the images of Nate and I on our little e-shoot…we had Oscar {who was just a puppy then} and we both looked so young :0)

See how relaxed Katie & Steve are in this last image? The first 30 minutes or so, Steve was pretty nervous…and it showed {sorry, Steve!}….this just means that on their big day this summer it will be smooth sailing!

I love shopping on Etsy- and always turn there first if I’m looking for something unique, handmade, and just plain special. Myra’s shoppe is sweetly named Twigs & Honey.

Myra also has adorable mini birdcage veil headpieces…I’ll save those for another day…but if I could change only ONE thing on my wedding day- I would have worn a mini-birdcage!

Myra also has a website: Twigs & Honey and a sweet blog twigs & honey.

xoxo

p.s. In case you forgot what The Hitching Posts are all about: The Hitching Posts will be a new source for brides (and everyone else that is equally as obsessed with weddings)….I’ll be sharing unique ideas and vendors that I’ve found on Esty and other inspiring places.
